Is Eureka safe?

Eureka

Eureka is a real US survey app that pays small amounts through PayPal, bank transfer and gift cards. It scores low because your profile and device data go to survey and ad partners, payouts can require ID and a liveness video, its Google Play label claims it collects nothing, and its operator answers few complaints.

How the score breaks down

The overall score is the weighted average of these factors. Scoring rules

  • Privacy30% of score

    35 out of 100, Poor

The 13 August 2026 policy covers income, household and job details, ad IDs and location, plus an ID photo, selfie and liveness video for some payouts, and says disclosures to ad and survey partners may count as a "sale". Apple's label lists sensitive info used to track you; Google Play's says no data at all.

  • Security30% of score

    48 out of 100, Weak

We found no reported breach. Google Play says data is encrypted in transit, and the policy sets deletion dates for ID images (30 days) and face data (4 months). We found no Two-factor authenticationSigning in with a second proof of identity on top of your password, such as a code from an app, a security key or a passkey.More in the glossary login, bug bounty or security contact.

  • Transparency and control15% of score

    45 out of 100, Weak

Terms dated 13 August 2026 promise 30 days' notice before rule changes, a general reason and one appeal for bans, and a 30-day arbitration opt-out. But rewards can be reversed before delivery, and the Play label contradicts the policy.

  • Scams and harmful content15% of score

    45 out of 100, Weak

Google Play rates Eureka Everyone although the terms bar under-18s, and the App Store lists frequent contests and gambling. Eureka's own payout claims differ between its site (48% cash out $5 within a day) and Play listing (80% of new members).

  • Regulatory record10% of score

    86 out of 100, Excellent

We found no fine, order or regulator action against SocialLoop LLC since Eureka launched in 2019. The BBB's F rating reflects unanswered complaints, not a regulator finding; we keep the score below 90 because no regulator has examined the app.

Is Eureka safe to use?

Eureka pays real money, but in small amounts and in exchange for a detailed profile of you. We score it 47/100, a little above the game-reward apps Freecash (42), Mistplay (45) and JustPlay (46). Its data practices are less invasive than the game-reward apps, since it does not read your installed apps or playtime. What pulls it down is how widely your answers travel, a Google Play label that does not match its own policy, and an operator that rarely answers complaints.

Eureka is run by SocialLoop LLC of Coconut Grove, Florida, which also publishes Survey Pop, Survey Spin and Cash Arcade under the same privacy policy. It is available only in the United States. The iPhone app has been on the App Store since June 2019 and has more than 580,000 ratings.

What Eureka does with your answers

To match you with surveys, Eureka asks for your age, gender, relationship status, household, income range, education, employment and shopping habits. Survey companies then ask more, and the policy says some of them may request health data, which is why it carries a Washington consumer-health notice.

The privacy policy, last updated on 13 August 2026, says Eureka and its partners collect device and advertising identifiers, general location and what you view, and that disclosures of identifiers, location, activity and "inferences" to advertising, attribution, analytics or survey partners may count as a "sale" or "sharing" under California law. Each survey company is a separate controller of what it collects, under its own policy. Eureka honours Global Privacy Control signals and accepts opt-out requests by email.

Two labels, two stories

Apple's privacy label lists coarse location, your user ID and "Sensitive Info" as data used to track you across other companies' apps and websites. Google Play's data safety section says the opposite: no data collected and none shared.

Both cannot be right, and the privacy policy describes far more than either. Under our rules we score privacy on the broader document and treat the Play label as a failure of transparency. If you use Android, read the policy, not the label.

Getting paid

The minimum cash-out is $5, according to Eureka's help page, and most payouts are instant, with some taking up to three business days. Options are PayPal, US bank deposit, a virtual Visa card and more than 70 gift cards. Eureka says it still pays a little when a survey screens you out.

The terms dated 13 August 2026 are clearer than many rivals'. Eureka promises 30 days' notice before material changes to reward rules, gives a general reason for any final ban and allows one appeal within 30 days. You can opt out of the arbitration clause within 30 days of accepting the terms. Against that, rewards can be reversed or forfeited before delivery if a survey company rejects your completion, and available rewards expire after a year unredeemed.

Some payouts need identity checks: a photo of a government ID, a selfie and a short liveness video with audio. The policy says the images are deleted within 30 days of the decision and derived face data within four months.

Complaints and marketing claims

The Better Business Bureau rates SocialLoop LLC F. Its profile lists 83 complaints in three years and says the company failed to respond to 82 of them. Reviews there describe delayed or missing cash-outs. These are complaints, not findings, but the near-total silence is unusual.

Eureka's own numbers also wobble. Its website says 48% of users cash out $5 within a day and that it has over 9 million members; its Google Play listing says 80% of new members earn $5 on day one and gives 4 million members. The App Store lists "frequent contests" and "gambling" among its content notes.

How to use Eureka with less risk

  1. Answer profile questions honestly but skip any you would not want sold, such as health or income.
  2. Cash out each time you reach $5 instead of building a balance.
  3. Email SocialLoop to opt out of data sales and sharing, or turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser.
  4. Send the arbitration opt-out email within 30 days of signing up if you want to keep your right to sue.
  5. Never use a VPN or a second account; the terms treat both as fraud.
  6. Keep teenagers off it, whatever the Play Store rating says.

How we scored it

Privacy (35) is the weakest factor, driven by profile and device data shared with ad and survey partners and optional ID checks. Scams and harmful content (45) reflects the Everyone rating on an 18+ app and inconsistent payout claims. Transparency and control (45) balances fair appeal and notice rules against a misleading Play label. Regulatory record (86) is the highest because no regulator has acted.

Questions people ask

Is Eureka Surveys legit or a scam?

It is a real app run by SocialLoop LLC in Florida, and it does pay, from a $5 minimum, through PayPal, US bank transfer, a virtual Visa card or gift cards. No regulator has acted against it. But the BBB rates SocialLoop F because it did not respond to 82 of 83 complaints in three years, most about cash-outs.

How long does a Eureka cash-out take?

Eureka's help page says most cash-outs are instant and some take up to three business days for security checks. The terms let Eureka review a request, ask for information and delay it while the review runs. Some payouts also require identity verification first.

Why does Eureka want my ID and a selfie video?

The privacy policy says Eureka may ask for a photo of a government ID, a selfie and a short liveness video with audio before releasing some payouts. It says it deletes the images and video within 30 days of the decision and derived face data within four months, and does not use them for advertising.

Do Eureka rewards expire?

Available rewards that are not redeemed within a year can expire, and accounts not logged into for a year can be closed. In both cases the terms promise at least 30 days' notice by email first. Cash out once you reach $5.

Is Eureka safe for teenagers?

No. The terms require users to be 18, but Google Play rates the app Everyone, so store controls set for teenagers will not block it. Survey answers about income, health or shopping are exactly the data a minor should not be selling.
