Chamet

Chamet is an 18+ app for paid one-to-one video calls, live streams and party rooms, published by Fuliao Hong Kong Limited. How the score breaks down

The overall score is the weighted average of these factors. Scoring rules

  • Privacy30% of score

    32 out of 100, Poor

Google Play's form lists only email, user IDs, photos and crash logs. The June 2025 policy adds IP and MAC address, device IDs, gender identity, face verification and purchase records, uses data for advertising, and lets ad companies collect data in the app.

  • Security30% of score

    38 out of 100, Poor

We found no reported breach and no public bug bounty on HackerOne. The policy describes no security measures beyond asking users for a strong password, support runs through Gmail addresses, and the website also offers an APK download outside Google Play.

  • Transparency and control15% of score

    40 out of 100, Weak

Access, correction and deletion requests go to [email protected]; the policy describes no in-app deletion. It points to a cookies section that does not exist, has no update date beyond "posted on Jun.25,2025", and treats use of the app as consent.

  • Scams and harmful content15% of score

    25 out of 100, Poor

Google removed Chamet in August 2023 under its rule against apps whose main purpose is objectionable user content. Viewers pay by the minute for private video calls with hosts, and hosts can also sell views of "Private Album" photos and videos.

  • Regulatory record10% of score

    85 out of 100, Excellent

We found no fine, order or national block against Chamet or Fuliao Hong Kong. Google's 2023 removal is a store action, not a regulator's, and we found no sign that a regulator has examined the app.

Is Chamet safe?

Chamet is a real, very large app, but it sells paid time with strangers on camera, and that model carries more risk than most social apps. We score it 39/100, level with Poppo Live (39) and just below SUGO (40). The main problems are its history: Google pulled it in 2023 for objectionable content. Its data disclosures are thin, and the company behind it is hard to reach.

On US Google Play, Chamet has more than 50 million downloads and ranked #8 top grossing in the Social category in October 2026. The publisher is Fuliao Hong Kong Limited, at an office address in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. Its support email and its privacy contact are both Gmail addresses.

How Chamet makes money

The website is open about the business. Users buy diamonds. Diamonds pay for gifts, for party-room games and, above all, for one-to-one video calls, which are charged by duration at a price set for each host. Hosts receive Beans, which they convert at 10,000 Beans to US$1 and withdraw from US$10 through MetWallet, Chamet's own wallet app.

Chamet says hosting needs no application, no agency and no experience. Hosts at level 6 can open party rooms and receive "an automatic Bean share" from games played in them, whoever wins. Eligible hosts can also earn from "Private Album" photos and videos that users pay to view. The website promotes "women video chat" and female hosts' livestreams. Put together, this is a pay-per-minute video service with strangers, wrapped in the language of making friends.

Why Google pulled it in 2023

In August 2023 Google removed Chamet from Play. Google confirmed to TechCrunch that the app broke its user-generated content policy, which says: "Apps whose primary purpose is featuring objectionable UGC will be removed from Google Play." TechCrunch reported that, despite rules against pornography and vulgarity, the app was full of suggestive content and ads, and that Indian users alone had spent about $38 million on it, according to data.ai.

The app was back on Google Play under the same package name by January 2024, when the Internet Archive captured its listing rated PEGI 18. Today Chamet says every person in a one-to-one chat goes through "real-person verification", that moderation is "24/7 AI", and that human reviewers check content flagged for child sexual abuse, threats or harassment. Its community rules ban users under 18 and warn of fines and device bans for violations. Chamet publishes no transparency report, so none of this can be checked from outside.

What Chamet collects

Google Play's data safety form makes Chamet look like a light app. It says the app collects only an email address and user IDs, and shares crash logs and photos. The same listing asks for your camera, microphone and location.

The privacy policy, posted in June 2025, covers much more: your name, address, sex and gender identity, IP address, MAC address and other device identifiers, face verification for some features, purchase records, and everything you send, including messages, pictures, video and audio. Chamet keeps user content to meet content rules. It uses data for advertising and lets "analytics, personalization, fraud, security, and advertising companies" collect data through its apps. Data can be shared with group companies and is processed in Singapore, among other places.

The policy refers to a "Cookies, Web Beacons, and Other Technologies section above" that is not there. It names no security measure beyond a request that you use a strong password. Rights requests and account deletion go to [email protected]. When a form says much less than the policy, we score the broader one.

Who should be careful

Anyone who pays. The obvious risk is spending: per-minute calls and gifts add up fast, and the app ranks among the top-grossing social apps for a reason. The less obvious risk is what happens on camera. A call can be recorded by the other side with any screen recorder, and recorded calls are the raw material of sextortion. Chamet's own homepage warns users to be cautious "if someone asks you to move the conversation elsewhere, send money or keep a secret."

Parents should treat Chamet as an adult service. It has no iPhone version that we could find, so on Android, block it in Google Family Link, and check for APK installs from chamet.com, which offers a download outside Google Play.

How to use Chamet more safely

  1. Set a monthly budget in Google Play before you buy diamonds.
  2. Keep your face and body covered on calls in any way you would not want recorded.
  3. Never pay a host outside the app or move a chat to WhatsApp or Telegram.
  4. If anyone threatens to share a recording, do not pay. Report the account, keep the evidence and contact the police.
  5. Turn off location for the app in Android settings.

How we scored it

Regulatory record (85) is the strongest factor only because no regulator has acted on Chamet that we could find. Scams and harmful content (25) is the weakest, because of the 2023 removal and a business built on paid private video calls and pay-to-view albums. Privacy (32) and security (38) reflect a data form that leaves most collection out and a company that handles requests through Gmail. Questions people ask

Is Chamet a dating app?

Not officially. Chamet calls itself a live video platform, but its core feature is a private one-to-one video call with a host, paid by the minute in diamonds. Its website markets "women video chat" and female hosts' livestreams. Treat it as a paid chat service, not a place to find a partner.

Is Chamet free?

Chamet is free to start, but longer calls and many features cost diamonds bought in the app. Hosts earn Beans from the time you spend on calls and the gifts you send, so the app is designed to keep you paying. Set a spending limit in Google Play before you start.

Why was Chamet removed from Google Play?

Google confirmed to TechCrunch in September 2023 that Chamet broke its user-generated content policy, which removes apps whose main purpose is objectionable content. The app is back on Google Play now, rated Mature 17+, with more than 50 million downloads.

Is Chamet on the iPhone App Store?

We could not find Chamet in the App Store in the US, India, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Egypt, Turkey or Brazil in October 2026. It runs on Android and in a web browser. Be careful with APK files and unofficial download sites that ask for your login.

Can Chamet hosts or calls be recorded?

Chamet's policy says that when someone reports you, voice, screenshots or chat content stored on the other person's phone may be uploaded to Chamet for review. Nothing stops the person on the other end from recording the screen. Do not show your face or body in a way you would not want shared, and report any threat at once.
