How the score breaks down

The overall score is the weighted average of these factors. Scoring rules

  • Privacy30% of score

    35 out of 100, Poor

Apple's label lists identifiers used to track you and coarse location linked to you for third-party ads. Google Play says device IDs and app interactions are shared for advertising. The April 2026 policy keeps device IDs indefinitely and approximate location for five years.

  • Security30% of score

    42 out of 100, Weak

Google Play says data is encrypted in transit. Chats and calls are not described as End-to-end encryptionEncryption in which only the sender and the recipient can read a message. The company running the service cannot see its content.More in the glossary, the policy gives almost no security detail, and we found no bug bounty on HackerOne or Bugcrowd. We found no reported breach.

  • Transparency and control15% of score

    48 out of 100, Weak

Account deletion is in the app (Settings, Account, Delete Account) with a 30-day grace period, and the policy lists clear retention periods. But the terms, policy and store ratings name three different minimum ages, and a store refund can get your account frozen.

  • Scams and harmful content15% of score

    30 out of 100, Poor

The core feature matches you with strangers for text and voice. The terms say 18+, but Apple rates it 16+ and Construct says it does not verify ages. In 2024 Malaysian police said a 16-year-old was raped by a man she met on Litmatch. Litmatch publishes no transparency report.

  • Regulatory record10% of score

    86 out of 100, Excellent

We found no fine, order or national block that names Litmatch or Construct Technology, and it was not among the nine apps Turkey blocked in February 2026. No large regulator appears to have examined it.

Is Litmatch safe?

Litmatch is a real app from a funded company, not malware, but it is a stranger-matching app with a coin economy and loose age rules, and that combination is where the risk sits. We score it 43/100. You open the app, tap "Soul Game" or "Voice Game", and get paired with someone you have never met for a text chat or a short voice call. There are also party rooms where users send each other paid gifts, a public feed and avatars. Google Play counts more than 100 million downloads.

The two things that pull the score down most are age and money. Litmatch's own terms say no one under 18 may use it, yet Apple rates it 16+, and the company says outright that it takes no responsibility for checking that users are adults. Purchases of diamonds, gifts and VIP are final under the terms.

Who runs Litmatch?

The operator is Construct Technology Pte. Ltd. of Singapore, which signs the privacy policy, the terms and the App Store listing. A company profile on 36Kr, the Chinese business site, lists Shanghai Construct Technology, founded in March 2019 in Shanghai's Hongkou district, as a subsidiary of the Singapore company, and names Litmatch as its product. The same profile lists an angel round from Wepie Network in October 2019, the Wuhan company behind the party-game app WePlay, and a 2020 round from GSR Ventures and DCM China.

That matters for one practical reason: the privacy policy says data may be stored in Singapore "or in any other country" where Litmatch's affiliates, subsidiaries or service providers work, and it lets Construct share registration, profile and app data with its parent company, subsidiaries and joint ventures. Disputes go to confidential arbitration in Singapore.

Litmatch's child-safety page lists reporting hotlines for Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Brazil, the US and the EU, which gives a fair picture of where its users are.

Three ages, no check

The terms also say that users between 18 and the local age of majority need a parent's supervision, and that only users who are 18 or older may buy diamonds or VIP. None of this is enforced at the door. Age is a birthday you type in, and the company says it does not take on the job of verifying it. Apple's listing warns of frequent mature or suggestive themes and infrequent sexual content or nudity.

Two 2024 App Store reviews describe the problem from the inside. One writer said her friend was banned for being 17 and added that there were "probably so many minors here" who lied about their birth date. Another said scammers were present "in uncontrollable numbers" and that reports with proof went unanswered. These are users' accounts, not evidence of scale, but they match what a random-matching design invites.

The risk is not only online. In August 2024 police in Ampang, Malaysia, said a 16-year-old girl had been raped by a 24-year-old man she met on Litmatch, and arrested him, Malay Mail reported. The same report recalled that a Malaysian state assemblywoman had warned in 2021 that Litmatch was being used to groom children and share sexual images of minors. One case does not measure how common abuse is, but it shows how a stranger-matching app with typed-in birthdays can put a teenager in touch with an adult.

Litmatch says it uses machine checks on feeds, comments, nicknames, bios and party rooms, human reviewers for voice rooms and reports, and a team that works around the clock. It publishes no transparency report, so there are no numbers to test those claims against.

What Litmatch collects

Apple's label is fairly candid. It lists identifiers used to track you across other companies' apps and websites, coarse location linked to you and used for third-party advertising, and email, phone number, user ID and device ID linked to you. Photos, audio, usage and advertising data are collected but not linked to you, according to the label.

Google Play's form says device IDs and app interactions are shared with other companies for advertising, and lists name, email, phone, purchase history and both approximate and precise location among the data collected.

The privacy policy, updated in April 2026, adds card and billing details for purchases, conversations with an AI customer-service system run by outside AI providers, and cookies used for advertising. Its retention list is unusually specific, which we count in its favour, but some of the periods are long: purchase records for ten years, customer-service records for six, approximate location tied to downloads and purchases for five, and device identifiers indefinitely, to stop banned users from coming back.

Diamonds, gifts and refunds

On the US App Store, diamond packs run from $0.99 to $84.99 for 48,000 diamonds, VIP costs $4.99 a month, and a "LitPass Luxury Gift Bundle" is $27.99. The terms say diamonds, star coins, gifts and outfits are all paid items, and gifts are sent in party rooms. The listing also flags loot boxes.

The terms are strict. All sales are final unless the law says otherwise, and if you get your money back through Apple, Google or a card issuer, Construct reserves the right to revoke the items and suspend payments, freeze or permanently close your account. If your account is closed for any reason, you get no refund.

How to use Litmatch more safely

  1. If you are under 18, the app's own terms say you should not be on it.
  2. Do not move a chat to WhatsApp, Telegram or Instagram because a new match asks. That is the usual first step of romance and gift-card scams.
  3. Never send money, gift cards or diamonds to a match, and ignore anyone who sells cheap diamonds outside the app.
  4. Hide your online and in-party status in the privacy settings, and block anyone who pushes for photos or personal details.
  5. Turn off location access and refuse the tracking prompt on iPhone. Matching still works without them.
  6. Set a spending limit or purchase approval in Apple or Google family settings if a teenager has the phone.

How we scored it

Regulatory record (86) is the strongest factor, because we found no fine, order or block, though no major regulator seems to have looked at Litmatch. Scams and harmful content (30) is the weakest: random matching with strangers, a 16+ store rating under 18+ terms and no age checks. Privacy (35) reflects tracking, location used for ads and long retention. For a similar coin-and-gifts model built around voice rooms, see SUGO; for anonymous messaging aimed at teens, see NGL.

Questions people ask

Who owns Litmatch?

The app is run by Construct Technology Pte. Ltd., a Singapore company. A 36Kr company profile lists Shanghai Construct Technology, founded in March 2019, as its Chinese subsidiary, with funding from Wepie Network (the company behind WePlay), GSR Ventures and DCM China. Litmatch has no link to Match Group, a point its own website makes.

Is Litmatch a dating app?

It presents itself as a friend-making app, not a dating app, but its main features match you one to one with strangers for text chats and short voice calls, and you connect when both sides like each other. In practice many users treat it like a casual dating app.

What age do you have to be to use Litmatch?

The terms say 18, the privacy policy says the service is not directed at anyone under 17, Google Play rates it Mature 17+ and Apple rates it 16+. Construct says it does not verify that users are 18. Age is whatever a user types at sign-up.

Can I get a refund for Litmatch diamonds?

Not from Litmatch. Its terms say all sales of diamonds, gifts and VIP are final, and that if you get a refund through Apple, Google or your bank it may take back the items and freeze or close your account. A parent whose child bought diamonds should still ask the app store, since the store decides.

How do I delete my Litmatch account?

Go to Settings, then Account, then Delete Account. The privacy policy says deletion takes 30 days and is cancelled if you log in during that time. Some data stays longer, including purchase records for ten years and device IDs for as long as Litmatch thinks it needs them to stop banned users returning.
