How the score breaks down

The overall score is the weighted average of these factors. Scoring rules

  • Privacy30% of score

    40 out of 100, Weak

Apple's label lists identifiers as used to track you and user and device IDs as linked to you for third-party ads. Google Play says device IDs, photos, files and in-app messages are shared with other companies. The policy collects your installed-app list and lets ad networks build interest profiles.

  • Security30% of score

    47 out of 100, Weak

No breach of VibeShort user data was found and Google Play says data is encrypted in transit. The policy describes access controls, audits and an incident response team, but names no specific encryption. Payments run through Apple or Google; we found no two-step login or bug bounty.

  • Transparency and control15% of score

    38 out of 100, Poor

The policy is dated August 2026 and lists GDPRThe EU's General Data Protection Regulation, which sets rules on how organisations collect and use personal data and allows large fines.More in the glossary and CCPA rights and ad opt-out links, and the terms allow account deletion. But data requests go by email, refunds come only if VibeShort is at fault, bonus coins expire, and disputes go to arbitration in Hong Kong with a class-action waiver.

  • Scams and harmful content15% of score

    48 out of 100, Weak

Apple rates VibeShort 18+ for frequent mature or suggestive themes and Google Play rates it Mature 17+, close to its 18+ terms, though the policy calls the app "made for the general public". The AI-generated shows come from the operator, but the app carries third-party ads.

  • Regulatory record10% of score

    86 out of 100, Excellent

We found no privacy or consumer-protection fine or order against VibeShort or Agile Quadrant, and no UK Advertising Standards Authority ruling. The app launched in February 2026 and no regulator has examined it.

Is VibeShort safe?

VibeShort is a working app, we found no breach or regulator action against it, and it is rated for adults on both app stores, which few rivals manage. Its risks are commercial: weekly passes up to $19.99, device IDs shared with advertisers, a policy that collects the list of apps on your phone, and refunds only when the app itself fails. We score it 48/100, level with StoryReel and ShortMax (both 48) and a point above BlinkDrama (47).

VibeShort sells AI-generated short dramas and comic-style stories. Launched in February 2026, it had about 55,000 US App Store ratings at 4.7 stars by October and was No. 8 in Entertainment. On Google Play it has more than 10 million downloads and 643,000 reviews averaging 4.5.

Who runs VibeShort

The seller on both stores is AGILE QUADRANT MEDIA LIMITED, which gives a registered address in Liven House on King Yip Street, Kwun Tong, Kowloon. The privacy policy refers to Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance as well as the GDPRThe EU's General Data Protection Regulation, which sets rules on how organisations collect and use personal data and allows large fines.More in the glossary and California's privacy law. Privacy requests go to an email address at agilequadrant.live, a domain registered in November 2025.

Chinese trade press has noted that VibeShort uses the same mix of reward ads, coin unlocks and weekly passes as StoryReel and BlinkDrama, and that a Reddit user suspected VibeShort, StoryReel and ShortMax share an operator. That is one user's guess. What we can confirm is narrower: VibeShort's privacy policy and recharge rules share much of their wording with BlinkDrama's, yet each app names a different Hong Kong company.

What VibeShort costs

The US App Store listing names two plans: a Weekly Pass Pro at $19.99 a week and an Annual Pass Pro at $149.99 a year, both renewing automatically. Its full price list also shows weekly passes at $4.99 and $9.99 and one-time purchases of $3.49 and $19.99. Google Play items run from $0.99 to $149.99. A pass gives free viewing, no ads apart from ads you choose to watch for rewards, and 1080p video.

The terms, updated 28 July 2026, are strict after purchase. Your coin balance cannot be transferred or refunded, and paid coins are spent before bonus coins. Bonus coins expire and are then "automatically expired and liquidated". Refunds "will not be entertained unless the paid product/service is unusable for the reason of VibeShort". Disputes go to the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, in English, and you waive the right to a class action.

What VibeShort collects

Apple's label lists identifiers as used to track you across other companies' apps and websites, and links user and device IDs, photos or videos and support messages to you. Coarse location, search history, usage and diagnostics are collected but not linked. Google Play's declaration says device IDs are shared with other companies for analytics, advertising and personalisation. It also lists files, photos, videos and in-app messages as shared, for app functionality. The policy explains that uploaded files may go to partners "for better customer services".

The privacy policy, updated 31 August 2026, collects your advertising ID, the device's "process and software list" and app package names, and combines your interests, viewing, location and orders through "advertising models" and user profiling. It says VibeShort "did not sell personal information", then says it lets ad networks collect data in the app "to identify your interests, create profiles and interest segments". Data may be stored in the United States or any country where VibeShort or its partners work. On security it is more specific than most rivals: it describes access controls, monitoring and audits, and an incident response team. It names no specific encryption standard.

Is VibeShort OK for teenagers?

Not by its rules, and here the ratings mostly agree. The terms say you must be 18 or the age of majority, and that minors may only watch under adult supervision. Apple rates the app 18+ for frequent mature or suggestive themes and infrequent horror, and Google Play rates it Mature 17+. That is stricter than most short-drama apps, which often carry 13+ or Teen ratings against 18+ terms. The privacy policy still calls VibeShort "made for the general public".

The stories are generated by the operator, not uploaded by users, and Apple's listing declares no user-generated content or social features. The content risk is the usual mix of werewolf, billionaire and revenge plots, plus ads from outside networks for viewers without a pass.

How to use VibeShort more safely

  1. Check the price on the purchase screen: weekly passes range from $4.99 to $19.99 for the same name.
  2. Cancel in your store settings at least a day before renewal.
  3. Spend bonus coins before they expire, and do not delete your account while you still have paid coins.
  4. Tap "Ask App Not to Track" on an iPhone, and reset or delete your advertising ID on Android.
  5. Do not upload documents or photos to support unless you must; the policy lets partners receive them.

How we scored it

Regulatory record (86) is VibeShort's strongest factor: no fine, order or ad ruling, but the app is under a year old and no regulator has looked at it. Transparency and control (38) is the weakest, set by refunds only when VibeShort is at fault, expiring bonus coins and a policy that denies selling data while letting ad networks build profiles. Scams and harmful content (48) is higher than for most rivals because both stores rate the app for adults. For a rival with a looser age rating, see FlickReels.

Questions people ask

Is VibeShort legit?

Yes. VibeShort is a real app from AGILE QUADRANT MEDIA LIMITED in Hong Kong, with more than 10 million Google Play downloads, and the episodes you unlock do play. Its stories are AI-generated. Weekly passes cost up to $19.99 and renew every seven days until you cancel, so check which plan you are buying.

Are VibeShort shows made with AI?

Yes, and the app says so. Its store listings sell "AI-generated tales" and "AI short dramas", and its terms warn that AI-generated content "may not always be accurate, complete, or suitable" and that VibeShort does not guarantee it is legal or free of others' rights.

How do I cancel VibeShort?

Cancel the pass in your Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings before it renews; deleting the app does not stop billing. The terms let you delete your account, but deletion wipes your coins and benefits, and bonus coins expire on their own.

Can I get a refund from VibeShort?

Rarely from VibeShort. Its terms say refunds "will not be entertained unless the paid product/service is unusable for the reason of VibeShort". For App Store or Google Play purchases, ask the store directly from your purchase history.

Is VibeShort OK for kids?

No. The terms require users to be 18 or the age of majority, and say minors may only watch under adult supervision. Apple rates it 18+ for frequent mature or suggestive themes and Google Play rates it Mature 17+, so most parental controls set for children will block it.
