Is DramaRush safe?

DramaRush

DramaRush, the second short-drama app from ShortMax operator SHORTTV LIMITED in Hong Kong, has no known breach or regulator action and very cheap passes. But it shares device IDs for ads, its privacy policy is undated and contradicts itself, and Apple rates it 13+ against 18+ terms.

How the score breaks down

The overall score is the weighted average of these factors. Scoring rules

  • Privacy30% of score

    42 out of 100, Weak

Google Play says DramaRush shares device IDs with other companies for advertising, and Apple's label lists identifiers as used to track you. The undated policy collects the advertising ID and a "process and software list" from the device, and lets ad networks collect data in the app.

  • Security30% of score

    46 out of 100, Weak

No breach of DramaRush user data was found and Google Play says data is encrypted in transit. Payments run through Apple or Google. The policy names no specific safeguards, we found no two-step login or bug bounty, and the iPhone app had not been updated since February 2026.

  • Transparency and control15% of score

    38 out of 100, Poor

The terms let you delete your account and Google Play confirms deletion requests. But the privacy policy carries no date and says DramaRush does not share data for cross-context ads while letting ad networks track users; refunds are given only if the product fails through DramaRush's fault.

  • Scams and harmful content15% of score

    45 out of 100, Weak

Apple rates DramaRush 13+ and lists no content warnings at all, only advertising, while the terms require users to be 18 and the Play listing promotes "steamy love stories". Shows come from the studio, with no messaging between strangers and no parental controls.

  • Regulatory record10% of score

    87 out of 100, Excellent

We found no privacy or consumer-protection fine or order against DramaRush or SHORTTV LIMITED, and no UK Advertising Standards Authority ruling. The app is about a year old and no regulator has examined it.

Is DramaRush safe?

DramaRush is a working app from an established short-drama operator, and we found no breach or regulator action against it. Its weak points are ad tracking, a vague and undated privacy policy, and an age rating that ignores its own rules. We score it 48/100, level with its sister app ShortMax (48) and a point above NetShort (47).

What sets it apart is price. On the US App Store, DramaRush's weekly passes cost $1.99 to $4.49 and monthly passes $5.99 to $11.99, a fraction of the $19.99 to $29.99 weekly plans common in the genre. That makes a forgotten subscription far less costly, though it still renews every week.

Who runs DramaRush

The App Store seller is SHORTTV LIMITED, registered in the Fuk Hong Industrial Building on Tong Mi Road in Mong Kok, Hong Kong, the same company that runs ShortMax. On Google Play the developer appears as SHORTMAX LIMITED. Neither the listings nor the policy name a parent company.

DramaRush is mainly an Android app. Google Play counts more than 10 million downloads and about 7,600 reviews with an average of 4.2 stars, and the Android version was updated in October 2026. The iPhone version has only 128 US ratings, had not been updated since 14 February 2026 when we checked, and does not appear in Apple's US entertainment charts. Its best chart position we found was No. 45 among free entertainment apps in the Philippines.

What DramaRush costs

The US App Store lists four weekly "Pass Pro" prices ($1.99, $2.49, $3.49 and $4.49), four monthly ones ($5.99 to $11.99) and one-time purchases of $2.99 and $9.99. Google Play shows in-app items from $1.99 to $149.99, so larger coin packs exist on Android. Passes give free viewing, no ads (except ads you choose to watch for rewards) and 1080p video, and renew automatically.

The terms, last updated 9 March 2026, are strict once you pay. Refunds "will not be entertained unless the paid product/service is unusable for the reason of DramaRush." Your coin balance cannot be transferred or refunded, gold coins are spent before bonus coins, and bonus coins expire. Disputes can go to the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, and you waive class actions.

What DramaRush collects

Here DramaRush is more candid in its Google Play declaration than most rivals. It says device IDs are shared with other companies for analytics, advertising and personalisation, and that the app collects your name, user ID, device IDs, approximate location, app interactions and crash data, plus an optional phone number and email. Apple's label lists identifiers as used to track you and linked to you for third-party advertising, with location and search history collected but not linked.

The privacy policy is weaker. It carries no date. It says DramaRush collects the Google advertising ID or Apple's IDFA, the device's "process and software list" and your IP address, and builds recommendations from your interests and viewing. In one passage it says DramaRush "did not share personal information for cross-context behavioral marketing purposes", and in the next it says it allows ad networks and other third parties to collect information through its services. Data may be stored in the United States or any other country where DramaRush or its partners have facilities. The policy names no specific security measures beyond general assurances.

Is DramaRush OK for teenagers?

DramaRush's terms say you "must be 18 years or the age of majority" to use the service, and that minors may only watch under adult supervision. Apple rates it 13+ and, unusually, lists no content warnings at all, only that the app contains advertising. Google Play rates it Teen. The Play description promises "steamy love stories" and "shocking betrayal", the usual themes of the genre. ShortMax, from the same company, carries an 18+ rating on Apple, so the two sister apps are rated very differently for similar stories.

There is no messaging between viewers, no kids mode and no purchase PIN. With weekly passes this cheap, the bigger risk for a teenager is the content, not the bill.

How to use DramaRush more safely

  1. Check whether a pass is weekly or monthly before you tap, and cancel in your store settings a day before renewal.
  2. Use your store's purchase approval (Ask to Buy or Family Link) on a child's phone, because the 13+ rating will not block the app.
  3. Tap "Ask App Not to Track" on an iPhone and reset or delete your advertising ID on Android.
  4. Skip the optional phone number when you sign up; the app works without it.
  5. Spend coins before they expire, and do not delete your account while you still have paid coins.

How we scored it

Regulatory record (87) is DramaRush's strongest factor: no fine, order or ad ruling, but no regulator has looked at the app and it is about a year old. Transparency and control (38) is the weakest, set by an undated, self-contradicting privacy policy and refunds only when the app fails. Privacy (42) matches ShortMax: device IDs go to advertisers, which Google Play at least admits. Scams and harmful content (45) reflects a 13+ rating with no content warnings for an app whose terms require users to be 18. For the larger sister app, see ShortMax; for an ad-supported rival from another company, see FreeReels.

Questions people ask

Is DramaRush legit?

Yes. DramaRush is a real app from SHORTTV LIMITED in Hong Kong, the company behind ShortMax, with more than 10 million Google Play downloads. The episodes you unlock do play. Its passes are cheap for the genre, from $1.99 a week on the US App Store, but they still renew until you cancel.

Is DramaRush the same as ShortMax?

Same company, different app. Both are run by SHORTTV LIMITED, which appears as SHORTMAX LIMITED on Google Play, and DramaRush's privacy policy and terms closely follow ShortMax's. DramaRush is smaller and much cheaper, with weekly passes from $1.99 against up to $19.99 on ShortMax.

How do I cancel DramaRush?

Cancel the pass in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings before it renews; deleting the app does not stop billing. The terms let you delete your account afterwards, but deletion wipes any coins and unused benefits, and expired bonus coins are not returned.

Can I get a refund from DramaRush?

Rarely from DramaRush itself. The terms say refunds or changes will not be given unless the paid product cannot be used because of a fault on DramaRush's side. For App Store and Google Play purchases, ask the store directly from your purchase history.

Is DramaRush OK for kids?

No. Apple rates it 13+ and Google Play rates it Teen, but DramaRush's terms say you must be 18, or watch under an adult's supervision. Apple's listing names no content warnings, while the Google Play listing promotes romance and "steamy love stories".
