Is PineDrama safe?
PineDrama
PineDrama, TikTok's short-drama app from TikTok Pte. Ltd. in Singapore, has no known breach or regulator action and, unlike most rivals, declares no ads and no weekly plans. But its labels list contact info used to track you, no privacy policy names the app, and comments put viewers in contact with strangers.

How the score breaks down
The overall score is the weighted average of these factors. Scoring rules
Privacy30% of score
38 out of 100, PoorApple's label lists contact info and identifiers as used to track you, and address, phone, browsing history and photos or videos as linked to you. Google Play adds optional contacts and precise location, and says photos and videos are shared for advertising.
Security30% of score
52 out of 100, WeakNo breach of PineDrama data was found and Google Play says data is encrypted in transit. You can sign in with a TikTok account, which offers 2-step verification. TikTok runs a HackerOne bug bounty, but it lists the PineDrama apps as out of scope.
Transparency and control15% of score
42 out of 100, WeakThe App Store links to TikTok's general privacy policy; the US version, dated July 2026, is run by the TikTok USDS Joint Venture and never mentions PineDrama, whose seller is TikTok Pte. Ltd. Google Play confirms deletion requests, but we found no PineDrama terms or price list.
Scams and harmful content15% of score
55 out of 100, FairApple rates PineDrama 13+ with age assurance and infrequent sexual content, mature themes and drug references, in line with TikTok's 13+ minimum. Neither store declares ads, but viewers can comment under episodes and follow creators.
Regulatory record10% of score
85 out of 100, ExcellentWe found no fine, order or ad ruling that names PineDrama, and no regulator has examined the app since its January 2026 launch. TikTok's own Irish GDPRThe EU's General Data Protection Regulation, which sets rules on how organisations collect and use personal data and allows large fines.More in the glossary fines and EU proceedings do not name PineDrama and count only as context here.
Is PineDrama safe?
PineDrama is a working app from one of the largest companies in social media, and we found no breach or regulator action that names it. It is also cleaner commercially than most of its genre: when we checked, neither store said it showed ads, and it sells no weekly plans on the App Store. We score it 50/100, a point below ReelShort (51) and above most short-drama apps, which cluster at 47 or 48.
The weak points are the ones that come with TikTok. Apple's label says your contact info and identifiers may be used to track you across other companies' apps, no privacy policy we could find even mentions PineDrama, and viewers can comment under every episode.
Who runs PineDrama
The App Store seller and the Google Play developer are TikTok Pte. Ltd., TikTok's company in Singapore. The app calls itself "TikTok's Official Short Drama App", and the Google Play description invites you to sync your TikTok account so that a clip you saw on TikTok can continue in PineDrama. TechCrunch reported the quiet launch in the US and Brazil on 16 January 2026, describing the app as free and "currently ad-free".
PineDrama is now one of the largest apps in the genre. It has more than 50 million Google Play downloads and 451,000 reviews averaging 4.6 stars, and on the US App Store it had about 94,000 ratings at 4.9 and was No. 2 in Entertainment in October 2026. Updates arrive every week or two.
Which privacy policy covers PineDrama?
This is the main transparency gap. The App Store links to TikTok's general privacy policy, which redirects by region. The US version, updated 15 July 2026, says the services are run by the TikTok USDS Joint Venture, the American company that took over TikTok's US business in January 2026. PineDrama's seller is still TikTok Pte. Ltd. The version for most other regions, last updated in July 2025, names TikTok Pte. Ltd. Neither mentions PineDrama. The app's own website, shortdrama.tiktok.com, returned an error when we tried it, and we found no terms or price list for the app.
The TikTok policy for other regions is broad. It covers approximate location from your SIM card or IP address, keystroke patterns, the faces and bodies that appear in images, and contacts if you choose to sync them, and it allows sharing within TikTok's corporate group and with advertising and measurement partners.
What PineDrama collects
The store labels describe a lighter app than TikTok itself, but not a light one. Apple's label lists contact info and identifiers as data used to track you. It links your name, email, phone number, physical address, photos or videos, browsing history, user and device IDs, usage and diagnostics to your identity.
Google Play's declaration goes further. It lists optional access to your contacts, precise and approximate location, in-app messages, and says photos and videos are shared with other companies for app functionality and advertising. Data is encrypted in transit, and you can ask for it to be deleted. Under our rules the broader of the two declarations sets the privacy score.
What PineDrama costs
Less than its rivals, so far. The Google Play listing promises "Start Free, No Subscription Needed", and neither store marks the app as containing ads. Both list in-app purchases: Google Play prices items from $2.99 to $199.99, while the App Store flags purchases without naming any. Most short-drama apps sell $19.99 weekly passes, among them BlinkDrama and VibeShort. Because PineDrama publishes no terms of its own, we could not check its refund or renewal rules. Treat any purchase as final and keep the receipt from your app store.
Is PineDrama OK for teenagers?
More so than most of its genre, with one caveat. Apple rates it 13+, lists infrequent sexual content, mature or suggestive themes, profanity and drug references, and says the app uses age assurance and restricts some content through in-app controls. That matches TikTok's minimum age of 13. Google Play rates it Teen and warns that users interact and that the app shares location.
The caveat is the comments. Apple lists user-generated content and social media features, and the app invites you to comment, like and follow creators. A teenager can read and receive replies from strangers under any episode. The shows themselves are not uploaded by users: the listing describes mini-series from TikTok and "exclusive premium titles".
How to watch PineDrama more safely
- Do not share contacts or precise location when the app asks; neither is needed to watch.
- On an iPhone, tap "Ask App Not to Track"; on Android, delete or reset your advertising ID.
- Turn on 2-step verification in your TikTok account if you sign in with it, because the same login now covers both apps.
- On a child's phone, use Ask to Buy or Family Link purchase approval, and tell younger teens not to reply to strangers in the comments.
How we scored it
Regulatory record (85) is PineDrama's strongest factor: no decision names the app, though TikTok's record is a reason not to score higher. Privacy (38) is the weakest, set by contact info used for tracking and Google Play's optional contacts, precise location and photo sharing. Security (52) is above the genre's usual 46 to 50 because of TikTok's 2-step verification, held back by a bug bounty that excludes the app. Transparency and control (42) loses points because no policy or terms name PineDrama. For the parent app, see TikTok.
Questions people ask
Is PineDrama owned by TikTok?
Yes. The App Store seller and the Google Play developer are TikTok Pte. Ltd., TikTok's Singapore company, and the app calls itself "TikTok's Official Short Drama App". You can link your TikTok account to keep your watch progress. It is a separate app from TikTok itself.
Is PineDrama free?
Mostly. Many episodes are free, and when we checked in October 2026 neither store said the app shows ads. It is not purchase-free, though. Google Play lists in-app items from $2.99 to $199.99, and the App Store also flags in-app purchases, so turn on purchase approval for a child.
Is PineDrama OK for kids?
Not for under-13s. Apple rates it 13+, uses age assurance and lists infrequent sexual content, mature themes and drug references. Google Play rates it Teen and warns that users interact. Comments are open to everyone, so younger teens can read and receive replies from strangers.
Does PineDrama share data with TikTok?
Yes. It is a TikTok app, and syncing your TikTok account carries your viewing between them. Apple's label says contact info and identifiers may be used to track you across other companies' apps. TikTok's privacy policy for most regions lets it share data within its corporate group.
How do I delete my PineDrama data?
Google Play says the developer offers a way to request deletion. Because PineDrama has no privacy page of its own, use the in-app settings or TikTok's privacy request form, and remember that deleting PineDrama does not delete your TikTok account.
